JBC and BPAC are featured guests on NPR’s First Coast Connect

March 19, 2012

WJCT’s Scott Kim interviews Chris LeDew, Harley Henry, and Officer Lamb regarding the new sharrows on Riverside Avenue. And then Stephen Tocknell – the President of the Florida Bicycle Association, Chairman of BPAC, and friend of JBC –  is the featured guest speaker on Melissa Ross’ First Coast Connect. Click on the link below to listen to the program and get an idea of how the public is reacting to the sharrows and how they feel about Jacksonville’s low ranking on pedestrian and cyclist safety.

“These are not foreign signs in America. They’re foreign to Jacksonville, I understand that, but they’re not foreign in America.”Harley Henry

“This is an area that is most deserving of the sharrow markings because it connects the Riverside area of town to the north bank River Walk… We’re looking at interconnecting existing bike lanes, bike facilities, multi-use paths… We want to designate a river crossing as a bike lane. The Acosta Bridge has a wide paved shoulder and that could be a bike lane.”Chris LeDew
